June 17 - 6:30pm - High School Old Gym

To all Hempfield hockey players:

There will be a player meeting on Thurs, June 17th starting at 6:30pm.  The location will be in the old gym inside the high school.  Players can enter the building in the back of the school – doors near the tennis courts.  We would like every player to attend – MS, JV and V.

There are three reasons for this meeting:

1)      For JV/V players:  Coach Eric Grant will be there to give all JV & V players one-on-one feedback based on the evaluations from last month.  In this sense, the meeting is mandatory for JV/V players - every player will get a chance to have a conversation with Eric about where they stand, strengths/weaknesses, etc in preparation for the off-season and going into final roster determinations in the fall.

 2)      We will be discussing player development to all players as a group.  Part of this discussion will be to outline an off-season development strategy that includes a voluntary 7wk speed program.  This program is done at home but does include 1 evening/week meeting together as a group.  It focuses on improving power thru speed training and can be beneficial to everyone – offense, defense & goalies.

 3)      We will also be timing sprints and measuring vertical jumps and broad jumps for all attending players.  Please come to the meeting dressed appropriately – sneakers/no sandals and bring your own water.  We are not doing this to see who is fast or slow – it will be a foundational element to our player development strategy and will be further explained during this meeting.

Again, middle school players are welcome – even though your rosters are being handled differently due to PIHL requirements, any player interested in the 7wk program can do so and should show up on the 17th to participate and get more info.

Parents are welcome to attend this meeting so you can be an informed participant in this development process.
